Unable to find a clean hot sauce that satisfied his desire for maximum heat without compromised flavor, Nico Lechuga started creating his own in his kitchen in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Like a mad scientist, he played with ingredients and ratios until the blends were perfect. The initial sauces were for personal consumption, not for sale. After sharing at his rooftop bbqs with family + friends — who all said again and again “if you sold this, I’d buy it!" — he decided to create a test batch to sell. The test batch sold out immediately. So together with his (then-very-pregnant) wife Lauren Cosenza, who is the creative complement to his culinary passion, a brand was born. Now, along with their little boy and baby girl, they run the ever-growing business.
